Many Years ago in 1999, my friend Mike Koster started The Thirsty Ear Music Festival in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He and I met in a coffee house called Downtown Subscription near famed Canyon Road. We sat outside & he told me of his plans to start a unique Music Featival in Santa Fe with a mix of Americana, Blues, Rock & Alt Folk. He asked me to be one of his photographers. It is because of Mike Koster & his kindness that I am a Music Photographer. I work with Mike for over a decade & was blessed to photograph & meet many great musicians. ~ Thank You Mike.
Yesterday the Great Richie Havens died. I was so Blessed to photograph him at Thirsty Ear in 2009. Last evening I posted this photo on Facebook & it spread like wildfire. ~ Blessings to hisBeautiful Soul. As one can see in this image, he was a very kind man. I gave him a beautiful Buddha charm that just happened to be in my purse when I saw all the charms of protection that fans had given him.
Here are more photos from that day, I hope that you enjoy them. If you go to his site,as I have many times before you can hear an endless loop of his music. It seems to be silent today … try back tomorrow ~ I listened to him for hours yesterday.
Om Shanti Om {Om Peace Om} ~

“I opened the Woodstock Festival even though I was supposed to be fifth. I said, “What am I doing here? No, no, not me, not first!” I had to go on stage because there was no one else to go on first – the concert was already two-and-a-half hours late. Everyone was at the hotel seven miles away and couldn’t get to the stage because the one back road they thought they could take was completely blocked. I was alone on stage for two-and-a-half hours before any of the other performers came! ” ~ Richie Havens

This is a wonderful brief tribute to Richie Havens, Jennifer; thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful website, subtle and heartfelt. I see your commercial offerings as opportunities and feel delightfully tempted to share more of your images in a different form. Glad to have gotten to know you some on fb; I wish you Good Luck on all this and with all you do.
Yoshi: Peace.
